Empowering Teens & Young Adults to Thrive

A safe and supportive space for self exploration where challenges become opportunities for clarity and growth.

Empowering Teens & Young Adults to Thrive

Supporting youth in developing mindfulness, confidence, and emotional strength so they can face life’s challenges with clarity, calm, and courage.

When young people learn how to explore their inner world, understand their emotions, and treat themselves with kindness — especially when things feel tough — they develop the inner strength to face challenges with clarity and courage. I help teens and young adults build the tools to stay grounded, respond thoughtfully, and grow from setbacks. This work centers mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and self-compassion as the foundation for lasting resilience.

What is Youth Well-Being Coaching?

Youth well-being coaching is a supportive, future-focused process that helps teens and young adults understand themselves, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to navigate life with more clarity and resilience. It’s not therapy, tutoring, or behavior management. It’s a collaborative partnership where a young person’s voice, goals, and pace guide the work.
Coaching gives young people a space that’s truly theirs—where they can slow down, reflect, and explore what’s going on inside and around them. We look at what’s working well, what feels challenging, and what they want for themselves moving forward. Together, we build practical tools for communication, emotional regulation, stress management, and decision-making. The work is empowering, strengths-based, and grounded in self-compassion.
In each session, I follow the young person’s lead. I don’t impose my own agenda or anyone else’s—whether a caregiver’s, school’s, or institution’s. My role is to support their growth, their agency, and their emerging sense of identity. I ask open-ended questions, listen, reflect and offer tools and activities that help build an empowered path forward. When teens feel seen, respected, and understood, they naturally become more curious about themselves and more capable of navigating relationships, responsibilities, and the transitions ahead.
Youth well-being coaching is ultimately about helping young people feel more connected—to themselves, their values, their relationships, and their potential. Each in-person or virtual session offers a supportive, judgment-free space for clients to :

  • identify and connect with personal values, strengths, and inner knowing
  • examine limiting beliefs, automatic thoughts, and other obstacles
  • understand emotions, thoughts, and behaviors
  • explore relationship dynamics
  • build confidence
  • practice communication tools
  • clarify personal goals
  • create action plans for goals

Why Youth Coaching?

Adolescence is a critical period for young people to begin building the social and emotional skills that lay the foundation for lifelong well-being. Coaching can be especially helpful for teens as it provides a supportive space for self-exploration and growth during a pivotal time in their lives. Research supports the effectiveness of coaching for improving a teen’s emotional well-being, enhancing self-regulation, and fostering personal growth.

It is developmentally appropriate for teens to assert their independence in order to form their own identities. As they naturally shift some emotional reliance away from primary guardians, it is especially important that they have other trusted adults to turn to. With personalized guidance in overcoming limiting beliefs and developing healthy habits, they can create a stronger sense of self with the confidence to make empowered choices. We can’t shield the next generation from life’s inevitable challenges, but we can equip them with the internal resources they need to thrive.

About Me

I recall vividly my own bumpy journey through adolescence into adulthood. The most significant turning points for me were marked by richer self-knowing, gained through both “imperfect” choices and the guidance of others. My calling to support young people stems from the understanding of how intense, challenging, and beautiful this time can be. I cherish and trust the inherent “messiness” of adolescence and feel such tenderness for this critical stage of becoming.

My approach to coaching is informed by first-hand experience with teens and is grounded in evidence-based training with the Youth Coaching Institute. Over the last 15 years, I have worked as an educator and youth mentor in many settings including school gardens and classroom kitchens, public charter high schools, and most recently, a rural homeschool collective. In addition to this work, I have volunteered for many years as a one-on-one and group mentor for teens. Through these experiences, I have become increasingly confident in the positive impact that my mentorship offers.

At the heart of my work with youth is a fascination with human development and a deep respect for the inherent wisdom and self-determination of every individual. Young people gravitate towards me because they know that I am on their team. I am committed to understanding and supporting each unique person that I work with, exactly as they are, to bring forth their very best selves!

I reside in Springfield, Oregon with my partner, his 10 year old daughter, and my own young adult son a mile away. In addition to working with youth, I love to garden, dance, spend time in nature, self-reflect, craft, play my ukulele, and challenge myself with always learning something new.

Testimonials

“I met Amber when I was 16 through a mentoring circle at my small alternative high school. We sat in a weekly sharing circle together for 2 and a half years.

My senior year I was several credits behind my graduation requirements. That year, she helped me to earn those extra credits for graduation by taking me under her wing as an intern at her job working with kids on a farm. In that experience, I learned a lot of self-value, confidence, and practical and social skills.

From then on, we’ve remained close and have continued to engage in regular self-reflective check-ins and fun adventures. She is an open-minded listener who is uplifting and reassuring to talk with.”

~ Savannah G. – Age 23

“Connecting my 17-year-old daughter with Amber as a coach is among my top best mom choices. For over one year, Amber continues to hold my daughter’s trust and provide support/perspective through life stuff including varied challenging transitions… changing schools, navigating friendships (and difficult peers), and support for the intense college application process. My daughter comes out of coaching lighter and/or happier. I’m grateful for Amber’s deep caring and listening, and excellent communication—thank goodness she’s part of the loving team supporting my daughter! I hope she and my daughter continue coaching through her college years. Every teenage girl needs someone like Amber on their side in this world.”

“ Working with Amber is like a deep breath of fresh air. She’s not your typical coach—she brings this light, playful energy that makes every session feel natural and alive. Whatever I’m feeling, she’s right there with me, not just understanding but feeling it too. Being around her reminds me that it’s okay to grow at my own pace, to trust the process, and to embrace every part of the journey”
